This simulation made me feel like I knew what I needed to assess and educate the patient on. It went
smoothly on the first try and definitely made me feel a lot more confident about taking care of a patient
with preeclampsia.

manner?
If preeclampsia is not treated in a timely manner, the mother runs the risk of experiencing a seizure,
stroke and or even coma. This condition can lead to possible death if interventions are not done.
EBP List the warning signs of hypertensive disorder in pregnant women.
High BP after 20 weeks gestation, protein in urine, weight gain, possible edema, headache, and blurred
vision.
PCC What should the priority teaching for Olivia Jones include?
Priority teaching for Olivia Jones includes managing prognosis, consuming a low-sodium diet, education,
and rationale to possibly having to take magnesium sulfate if condition worsens.

Olivia Jones is a 23-year-old African American female, G1P0 at 36 weeks of gestation. She was diagnosed
with mild preeclampsia and was admitted to OB triage for assessment and monitoring.
Pregnancy has been going well, her BP today was 146/92 and she has had 8 lb weight gain since
