Basic dosage calculation and administration for nurses – Dosage Calculations: A Multi-Method Approach 2nd edition (PDF) helps nursing students develop the dosage calculation skills they need to administer medications safely and accurately in clinical settings. Using problem examples, plain language, and practice opportunities, the textbook aims to reduce many nursing students’ anxiety about mathematics. It covers 3 dosage calculation methods–ratio and proportion, dimensional analysis, and formula. Illustrated examples walk nursing students through dosage problems step by step, using all 3 methods and often comparing approaches side by side. The content progresses from simple mathematical topics to complex applications for calculating and administering various medications. The updated 2nd edition delivers the most up-to-date standards for dosage calculation. It draws on safety recommendations of the Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals, the Institute for Safe Medical Practice, and the CDC’s One and Only Campaign. 978-0134624679, 978-0136848226, 9780136848226, 0136848222 P.S we also have Dosage Calculations: A Multi-Method Approach (2nd Edition) test bank, instructor manual, and other resources for sale. , About the Authors
Anthony Giangrasso was born and raised in Maspeth, New York. He attended Rice
High School on a scholarship and in his senior year was named in an annual citywide
contest by the New York Journal-American newspaper as New York City's most out-
standing high school scholar-athlete. He was also awarded a full-tuition scholarship to
Iona College, from which he obtained a BA in mathematics, magna cum laude, ranking
sixth in his graduating class of approximately 600 students.
Anthony began his teaching career as a fifth-grade teacher in Manhattan, as a
member of the Christian Brothers of Ireland, and taught high school mathematics and
physics in Harlem and Newark, New Jersey. He holds an MS and PhD from New York
University and has taught at all levels from elementary through graduate school. He is
currently teaching at Adelphi University and LaGuardia Community College, where
he was chairman of the mathematics department. He has authored nine college text-
books through twenty-six editions.
Anthony's community service has included membership on the boards of direc
tors of the Polish-American Museum Foundation, Catholic Adoptive Parents Association,
and Family Focus Adoptive Services. He was the founding Chairman of the Board of the
Italian-American Legal Defense and Higher Education Fund, Inc., and the president of
the Italian-American Faculty Association of the City University of New York—in the lat-
ter capacity he signed the first discrimination complaint filed with the United States
Department of Labor in which Italian-Americans were recognized as a “class.” This
class-action complaint eventually resulted in the threat of twenty separate lawsuits by
the U.S. Department of Labor individually against each of the branches of CUNY. The
complaint was later dropped as part of a settlement of a separate suit in which CUNY
was forced to defend itself in federal court before Judge Constance Baker Motley where
Anthony was the first witness. As part of the ensuing settlement of that case, CUNY
was ordered to pay all legal fees and correct some past injustices.
He and his wife, Susan, are proud parents of Anthony, Michael, and Jennifer—and
grandparents of Calvin, Jackson, Isabel, and Emilia. He enjoys tennis and twice has been
ranked #1 for his age group in the Eastern Section by the United States Tennis Association.

Dedication
For my lovely wife, Susan. Thanks for your love and support for over four decades.

—Anthony Giangrasso
