This article is going to talk about the case of Florida detention centers. You will hear about the
"honey bunning fight club" known in Florida detention centers. Honey bunning is when an
officer of the state bribes inmates to attack other inmates with pastries. There have been twelve
known attacks in Florida juvenile detention centers involving inmates. An instance is when a
guard pinned a 14-year-old inmate to the wall and then aggressively threw him on the ground,
all while the inmate wasn't resisting. After two punches to the face, the inmate suffered a
broken nose. This article is important to read because it teaches about the abuse of power. The
main point of this article is to inform you of inmate-guard brutality. The names "broomie"
(beaten with a broom), honey bunning (bribing inmates), and "toilet plunger" (head held in the
toilet) should not be nicknames for inmates in juvenile justice detention centers. Our detention
guards need to have further training and be held accountable for their actions, just like the
inmates behind bars they are paying.
