Feverfew – an herb that originated in Balkans and that belongs to the same
family (Asteraceae) as the daisy
Also known as Altamisa, Bachelor’s Buttons, Chrysantheme Matricaire.
Has been used in alternative medicine as a possible effective aid in preventing
migraine headaches or reducing symptoms of headaches that do occur
Has also been used to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
Also been used for skin itching, asthma, allergies, menstrual problems, psoriasis,
fever, nausea, vomiting and other conditions.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: bruising or bleeding (nosebleed, bleeding gums)
o Allergies to chamomile, ragweed, yarrow, or other plants in Asteraceae
family
o AVOID IF YOU ARE TAKING OTHER SUPPLEMENTS THAT AFFECT

OPIOID – Used to manage moderate to severe pain, very strong pain relievers.

o MOA: CNS DEPRESSANT: Binds to opioid receptors in the brain which causes an
analgesic seda琀椀ve and euphoric e昀昀ect
o USES: For moderate to severe pain
Cough center suppression ( codeine)
Treatment of diarrhea and intes琀椀nal cramping (loperamide – imodium)
Balanced anesthesia
O昀琀en given with adjuvant drugs
Decrease anxiety and sedate post-op
Decrease anxiety in those with dyspnea
Releive pain (MI)
Manage opioid dependence

not build toleance)
Decrease vital signs (HR, BP [hypotension], RR)
Decrease CNS func琀椀on (seda琀椀on, insomnia, weakness, dizziness)
