I believe that males being raised to not show emptions is a very negative thing in today’s
society. I also believe that females being raised to show emotions and think with their emotions
can be positive and negative. I believe that everybody, male or female, should be able to
express how they are feeling emotionally. By having men not show their emotions, it makes
them feel weak or insecure when they have certain emotions. This can lead to a lot of
problems with their mental health. This can also lead to problems with relationships and family.
By men believing they can’t show emotions, this leads to them keeping all their feelings inside.
Eventually after they’ve kept their emotions inside their whole life they break. This mental
break can lead to harmful acts upon themselves or others.
By reducing debilitative emotions and increasing facilitative emotions would be a positive thing.
I can relate to these emotions with college. For example, when I have a lot of homework and
exams in one week, I try my best to use facilitative emotions. I write down which order I want
to complete my work in and make it organized to contribute to effective functioning. On the
other hand, my roommate uses debilitative emotions. She gets stressed and puts all of her work
off and waits until last minute. This hinders her effective performance and the result of poor
homework and exam grades.
