, CHILD WELFARE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE 2
There are different theories and controversies surrounding social justice advocacy.
The controversies are more when it comes to child welfare and the aspect of social justice. To
safeguard and protect the rights and privileges of children, one of the aspects that have
presented itself is the issue of oppression among children. The paper intends to assess and
examine such controversies through social justice and child welfare (McLaughlin et al.,
2017). The paper will analyze an interview conducted among 20 child welfare social workers
in addition to one main focus group from different regions. Similarly, I will explore the
aspect of social justice in child welfare which will help me understand more key insights
when it comes to social justice. Participants in the research will give deeper insights in terms
of fairness and equality and the relationship between social workers with different groups.
Therefore, we will analyze the implications and effects of the advancement of social justice
advocacy in relation to child welfare and make conclusions based on different educators and
researchers in social justice advocacy.
In simpler terms, social justice is a reasonable idea between a person and society to
take advantage of societal opportunities. In most nations, especially countries on the western
side of the world, social justice has adjusted in various ways towards the satisfaction of
cultural opportunities and getting their dues from the society (Dotolo et al., 2018). The aspect
of social justice is no longer us versus them. It has shifted to we are in this as one where
everyone is included when it comes to working and championing together.
According to Luigi Taparelli, a Jesuit priest in the 1780s, the spread of social justice
came about in the 1840s following a revolution that took place in 1848 (McLaughlin et al.,
2017). Following the Industrial Revolution's intensification, the term social justice became a
common term. The various theories on social justice were centered on the aspect of the
community. Plato believed that rights existed between free people. The middle Age era was
marked by various theories and discussions on the aspect of social justice advocacy.
