,The GCSE Spanish Foundation Tier Paper 2 Speaking
exam for June 2024 will be conducted between 2 April and
17 May 2024 and is designed to assess your ability to
communicate in spoken Spanish. This exam is divided into
several components, including a role-play, a photocard
discussion, and a general conversation.
Overview of the Exam:
The Speaking Exam is a one-on-one assessment with your
teacher-examiner, and it will be divided into three parts. The
total exam time will usually be about 10-12 minutes,
depending on your responses.
Structure of the Exam:
1. Role-Play (5–7 minutes):
o Role-play is an essential part of the exam
where you will have to respond to a series of
predetermined scenarios. Your teacher-
examiner will give you a situation, and you
must use your language skills to respond.
o The role-play focuses on real-life situations
that a beginner or foundation-level speaker may
encounter, such as ordering food in a
restaurant, asking for directions, buying tickets,
or discussing your preferences.
o You will have a few moments to read through
the role-play materials before the exam starts.
2. Photocard Discussion (3–4 minutes):
o In this section, you will be shown a photocard
(a picture of a scenario or situation) and asked
a series of questions about it.
o The questions will relate to the photo’s subject,
such as what is happening in the picture, where
the people are, what activities they are doing,
and your opinions on similar topics.
o You will need to describe the photo and answer
questions that follow. This section assesses
your ability to describe people, places, and
activities in Spanish and express opinions.
3. General Conversation (4–5 minutes):
o This part involves a general conversation with
your teacher-examiner, focusing on topics that
are familiar to you.
o You will answer questions on everyday topics
such as family, school, free time, holidays,
and daily routines. These topics are familiar
and related to things you have likely studied in
class.
o The examiner will ask you questions based on
these themes, and you should aim to give
detailed responses, providing additional
information when poss
