GCSE Italian Higher Tier Paper 1 Listening (Thursday 9 May 2024, Afternoon)
The GCSE Italian Higher Tier Paper 1 Listening exam tests your ability to understand spoken Italian
in more complex and varied contexts. The listening material will include longer and more challenging
recordings than the Foundation Tier, and it will assess your understanding of a range of spoken texts,
from conversations to announcements.
Structure of the Exam:
The Higher Tier Listening exam is typically divided into several sections, each containing multiple
questions. You will hear the recordings twice, and you will need to answer a variety of questions,
including:
1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs):
o You will listen to a dialogue or announcement, followed by several answer choices. You need to select the
correct response based on the content of the recording.
2. Short Answer Questions:
o After listening to the audio, you will need to provide brief answers (in Italian or English) to questions
related to the content, such as specific details or opinions.
3. True or False Questions:
o You may be asked to determine whether statements about the recordings are true or false based on the
information provided.
4. Fill-in-the-Gap Questions:
o You might be asked to complete a sentence or fill in missing information based on what you heard in the
recording.
