Abstract
Sociological factors can be defined as the social conditions that affect human behavior.
This paper seeks to explain serial crime, which is a behavior, through the lenses of some of these
factors. This research paper evaluates education, social structure and social class and childhood
trauma as some of the leading sociological factors in explaining serial crimes and why people
choose to engage in such crime through these factors. While the paper establishes a causal
correlation between serial crime and these factors, its also presents some opposing and
contradicting views on each and every factor as it relates to serial crime by employing some
theoretical framework for deeper and better understanding.
Keywords: Serial crime, education, childhood trauma, social structure and social class.
