INTRODUCTION
An essential skill for health and human services professionals is understanding the
determinants of communicable, viral, and chronic diseases. These individuals must apply
problem-based inquiries to analyze real-world public health problems. This is done to
facilitate an understanding of necessary data points, and interpret that information, to
support an informed analysis and effective decision making.
This task challenges you to analyze a real-world disease outbreak. You will identify and
analyze the factors that contributed to the transmission of that outbreak. You will then
identify any gaps in the evidence or data and explain how those gaps would be helpful in
furthering the analysis of the outbreak. Finally, you will analyze the patterns found in the
data to explain any differences or irregularities.

SCENARIO
Introduction
In May 2018, two outbreaks of conjunctivitis occurred in quick succession at two nearby
