Load - Answer-Total number of customers onboard a flight.
Layover - Answer-To stay over at a station or city other than your home base; does not
require overnight.
MT - Answer-Missed Trip (See No show)
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) - Answer-Lead organization that
investigates airline accidents and makes recommendations to the FAA.
No-Show - Answer-A Flight Attendant or customer who does not show up for a
scheduled flight. (Missed Trip).
Non-Revenue Space Available or Non-Rev (NRSA) - Answer-Airline employees and/or
eligible family members who are traveling on stand-by status and have paid service fees
for their tickets.
Operations Control Center (OCC) - Answer-Department which includes Maintenance
and Crew Routing, Meteorology, Dispatch, and Crew Coordinators (formerly SOC).
Originating Flight - Answer-A flight that is just beginning and has its own flight number.
Per-Diem - Answer-Meal expense allowance determined by the total number of hours
you are away from your home base.
Placards - Answer-Instructional signs posted in the aircraft (i.e. exit signs, door
operation instructions for exit row windows, etc.)
Pre-Departure Report - Answer-Final paperwork given to the Flight Attendant by the
gate agent; contains specific information regarding number of passengers, their seat
numbers, flying status, etc.
Preflight Check or Inspection - Answer-A check performed by Flight Attendants to

Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE) - Answer-A breathing apparatus that provides an
environment safe from toxic smoke and fumes while fighting a fire.

during Sterile Flight Deck for other than safety-related or emergency matters.
