trained and equipped handlers during pesticide application.
What is ODF? - ✔️✔️Oregon department of Forestry. Protects water quality and other
natural resources on state and private forestland.
FPA stands for what and applies to who? - ✔️✔️Forest Practice rules apply to
commercial growing and harvesting of forest trees. including: pesticide and fertilizer
use, timber harvesting, road construction/maintenance, slash treatment and
reforestation
ODOT stands for what? - ✔️✔️Oregon department of transportation regulates the
transportation of hazardous materials including pesticides and enforces proper
placarding of hazardous materials over public roads and highways.
OERS stands for? - ✔️✔️Oregon emergency response system. Responsible for
coordinating and managing state resources in emergencies involving multiple
governmental agencies and the private sector. Responds to spills or releases of a
reportable quantity of hazardous material.
OHA stands for? - ✔️✔️oregon health authority. Requires all health care providers to
report confirmed or suspected illness from pesticide exposure. Also gathers information
on all cases related to chemicals and accordingly makes recommendations to industry.
What does SFM stand for? - ✔️✔️State fire marshal administers the Oregon
community right to know and protection act that requires employers/ businesses who
store hazardous substances to report information including:
identifying the substance, amounts stored on site, and hazards associated with the
substance.
DEQ - ✔️✔️Oregon department of environmental quality. Is responsible for pesticide
residues, waste pesticide disposal, pesticide cleanup and empty pesticide container
disposal. Also issues the NPDES (nation pollution discharge elimination system) which
permits for pesticide applications made to over or near water. DEQ also regulated all
pesticides declared hazardous waste (this does not pertain to lawfully applied
chemicals).

What is PARC? - ✔️✔️Pesticide analytical and response center. They are mandated to
perform the following responsibilities when a pesticide related incident occurs that has
suspected hazards to the environment or public.
Collect incident info, mobilize investigation, identify trends of problem, make policy or
other recommendations for action, report results of pertinent investigations and prepare
activity reports for each legislative session.
All schools k12 through community college must follow what? - ✔️✔️IPM laws must be
followed, only certain chemicals can be used and record keeping must be kept.
What is RCRA? - ✔️✔️Resource consercation and recovery act enacted in 1976 and is
the principal law in the US that regulates solid and hazardous waste including
pesticides, pesticide spill clean up and pesticide waste.
Under this act the person who produces hazardous waste is responsible for proper
handling and disposal.
What is NPDES? - ✔️✔️National pollutant discharge elimination system is a permit
program that controls water pollution by regulating point source discharges of pollutants
intow water of the US and authorized by the Federal Clean water Act of 1972.
Implemented by the DEQ under an agreement with the EPA
What is PGP? - ✔️✔️Pesticide General Permit specifically regulated pesticide
applications in over or near water to control mosquitoes and other flying insects, weeds,
algae, nuisance animals, forest canopy pests, and other pests that must be controlled in
area wide programs.
What is OR-OSHA? - ✔️✔️Occupational Safety and Health Administration is the
agency that enforces most worker protection laws in oregon and addresses all areas of
worker safety on the job
also addresses pesticide storage compliance, emergency first aid including the
provision of an emergency eye wash, decontamination supplies (clean water, soap and
disposable towels)
Supervision by the employer over employees on pesticide handling, pesticide
transportation, wearing PPE and rules associated with fumigants
