Accident - answer-programs must document and share with parent or guardian all accidents/incidents that occur while a child is in care on the same day they occur Documentation must include: -name of affected child -date and time of accident/incident -description -actions taken and by whom -signature(s) of staff who witnessed or participated in accident/incident -signature of parent or guardian Animals/vermin - answer-animals must be in a clean cage, properly vaccinated, and free from disease; families must be notified in writing if the program has animals Annual license - answer-all requirements passed Attendance - answer--taken daily, documenting arrival and departure times -each classroom must have attendance for its own group -daily attendance records must be kept for 12 months Background screening - answer-level 2 (good for 5 years): -national and statewide criminal records check -sexual predator/offender registry search -child abuse and neglect history Fingerprints must be submitted and processed through clearinghouse Childcare facility - answer-any child care center or child care arrangement that provides care for more than five children, unrelated to the operator, and that receives a form of payment Class i violation - answer-most serious and may result in death or serious harm to a child -bleach was accessible and child drank it -child unsupervised and left facility -child left in vehicle -physical punishment Class ii violation - answer-may be elevated to class i if the noncompliance resulted in death or serious harm to child -outdoor space not up to code -unsanitary bedding -director didn't have director credential Class iii violation - answer-least serious in nature -incorrect documentation/paperwork -first aid kit within child's reach -incorrect documentation of allergies/medication Communicable diseases/isolation - answer--children must be observed daily for signs of communicable diseases -any child or personnel showing signs must be removed or placed in isolation until removed -there must be a designated isolation area where children are within sight and hearing of staff at all times and observed for worsening symptoms -if an outbreak is suspected, the operator must notify the local county health department immediately Define ethics - answer-moral principles Define provisional hire - answer-individual can be hired for 45 days while out-of-state records are being requested and cleared; individual must be supervised by screened and trained staff member Department of children and families - answer-licensing authority that also writes childcare regulations Diapering - answer--diapering area must have an impermeable surface cleaned after each diaper change Hands or staff and children must be washed and dried thoroughly after each diaper change or toilet use Director - answer-on-site administrator or individual who has the primary responsibility for the day-to-day operation, supervision, and administration of a childcare facility Director credential - answer-each child care facility must have a credentialed director (renew every five years) Disciplinary sanctions - answer--administrative fine -annual license becomes provisional or probationary -denying, suspending, or revoking a license Discipline - answer--programs may not use any form of physical punishment Discipline should not be severe, humiliating, or frightening -should not be associated with food, rest, or toileting -children cannot be isolated -children cannot be bound or tied, have their mouths taped, or have their movement restricted -no abusive, profane, or sarcastic language, or verbal abuse, may be used Indoor and outdoor play cannot be withheld from children who misbehave (misbehavior during circle time doesn't mean the child can miss outdoor time) Dishwashing - answer-1) pre-rinsing or scraping 2) washing 3) rinsing 4) sanitizing 5) air drying Drop in childcare - answer-arrangement where families sometimes leave their child for no more than four hours but remain on premises (like in a shopping mall) Emergency telephone numbers - answer-posted on or near all phones -911 -ambulance -fire -police -poison control center -florida abuse hotline -county public health department Call 911 and then notify parent for life-threatening injuries Enrollment records - answer-the enrollment form must be kept on file, current, and accessible for review by the licensing authority as long as the child is enrolled in the childcare program Evening childcare - answer-care provided during the evening hours (6 p.m. To 7 a.m.) & personnel must remain awake at all times Federal laws (ada & idea) - answer-american with disabilities act (ada) was established to protect individuals with disabilities against discrimination - public entities must make reasonable accomadations; individuals with disabilities education act (idea) ensures that students with disabilities have access to a free appropriate public education Field trip requirements - answer--notify parents or guardians at least two days in advance -include date, time, and location of the field trip on the notification -obtain written permission for the child to participate -maintain parental permission documentation on file for at least 12 months from the date of the field trip
