3 vocabulary items
Okay class, listen up. We will now look at some vocabulary words that you might not know. By going
through these words now it will help with understanding the full reading text. Let’s go through them.

The first word we’ll be looking at is “Lorry”. In this picture, you can see a Lorry. We can also call this
a truck. A Lorry is a motorway vehicle, often used for transporting large quantities of products. We
see Lorries on the main highways. These are the big roads that go across the country. Right let’s all
say lorry. “I drive a lorry” (class repeats). “My favourite motor vehicle is a lorry” (class repeats). “I got
a toy lorry for Christmas” (class repeats). S1 make a sentence using lorry. So have any of you seen a
lorry? Have you ever been in a lorry? S1 have S2 if he/she has seen a lorry.

Our next term is “double-decker bus”. Here is a photo of a double-double bus. You can see that
there are two levels on this bus. That’s why we say double. A deck is the level on the bus. This bus
has two decks so we say double-decker. A bus that has two stories, used for a lot of transport in the
United Kingdom. We can find many of these double-decker busses in England. The English use
double-decker busses as transport. Let’s all say double-decker bus. “I saw a double-decker bus
yesterday” (class repeats). “I went on a double-decker bus” (class repeats). “Double-decker bus”
(class repeats). S1 make a sentence using double-decker bus. Have any of you seen a double-decker
bus? S1 ask S2 if he/she had ever seen a double-decker bus. Where do we mostly find double-decker
busses? And what are they commonly used for?

Our next word is “juggle”. In this photo we can see a woman juggling. Juggling is toss into the air and
catch (a number of objects) so as to keep at least one in the air while handling the others. We often
see juggling in circuses. Okay let’s all say juggle. “I like to juggle” (class repeats). “I juggle in a circus”
(class repeat). “The juggling act is my favourite” (class repeats). S1 make a sentence using Juggle.
Have you ever seen anyone juggle before? Would you like to see someone juggle? S1 ask S2 if
he/she has ever been to the circus where they juggle. What word can we use to describe the action
of tossing objects into the air and catching them?

Instructions
Okay class it’s now time for the 2nd reading task. This time I suggest go through the text again as
these questions are more specific. I have prepared 4 questions. All must be answered in full
sentences. You will have time to go through the text and answer the questions. I’m giving you five
minutes, at the end we will go through the questions together. Okay let’s start
