EHDI Correct Ans-Early Hearing Detection and Intervention
ASHA Benchmarks for early hearing detection and intervention (EHDI) Correct Ans-1. All
infants should have newborn hearing screening.
2. Those who do not pass should have Doctor and Audiological evaluations at age of 3 months to
determine if there is a hearing loss.
3. All infants with diagnosis of permanent hearing loss should receive intervention asap and by
the age of 6 months at the latest.
Challenges to benchmarks:

4. Limitations in resources ie finances, communication skills support systems, and spiritual
beliefs.
Minimal hearing losses in school-aged children Correct Ans-1. Many children have unilateral
hearing loss.
2. Most function well face to face.
3. However, a threshold reduction of only 10 dB lowers perception of loudness by half. A 20 dB
causes a student to hear only 1/4th of what the teacher says.
