- Adverse effects of magnesium - ANS-Respiratory depression/arrest.. monitor respirations
every 1 hr, CNS depression (if overdose/toxicity is suspected due to diminished/absent DTR or
respiratory depression- STOP the Magnesium)
abnormal changes that should be reported/evaluated in pregnancy - ANS-ongoing headache in
the 3rd trimester
Edema in the hands and face (pedal edema is a normal/expected finding)
visual disturbances (blurred vision, blacked out areas)

Frequency - ANS-Time the contractions from the start of the first contraction to the start of the
next contraction.
Fundal height - ANS-12-13 weeks: rises out of the symphysis; 20 weeks: at umbilicus
**Fundal height should correspond in Cm with the number of weeks after 20 weeks. Ex:28
weeks will have a fundal height of 28cm**
GBS - ANS-Group B Streptococcus
it's a bacteria that is part of the women's normal flora it's not an infection and has no symptoms
but is deadly for babies. Give antibiotics to the mom during the labor for the baby penicillin is the
1st line, if penicillin allergy give Clindamycin
