Metadata Refers to any help text, descriptions, tags, or other helpful information about an
object. All of our content in the Analytics Catalog has metadata that can be viewed by clicking
the book icon
Component A single graph or table or other piece of functionality that your users will
interact with on the dashboard. They are the building blocks of a dashboard and are the primary
way you will add new content or remove content from a dashboard
Regions Can group components vertically or horizontally, and they can be labeled to help
group together similar content
Dashboard Parameters Are prompts which allow users to choose a value that modifies the
data displayed on the dashboard.
Edit Parameters When you build your own dashboard, you will use this to control which
parameters you wish to allow your consumers to modify, and which components respect them.

Dashboard View An existing dashboard house visualizations. Often used as the first
screen users see.
Source Dashboard Can be distributed through the Analytics Catalog to large groups of
users at a time. They should always go through a validation and testing process before becoming
available to the community.
Dashboard Editor Can only edit source dashboards. It cannot be used to modify dashboard
views. It is also only available in Classic, not in Hyperspace. In order to use any features
exclusive to this activity, you will need to log into the Classic client. Need to save settings too.
Component Editor Manages components in Classic. Can also be used in SlicerDicer
View Manager Dashboard icon can modify and make changes to dashboards
