Brecht:
● Brecht is theatre solely based on mind power, intellect, knowledge,
thinking.
● ‘Theatre is a tool with which you can change society for the better.’
Brecht is all about giving theatre pieces that make you think about
society and our world.’
● It is a commentary about society and real events.
● It has to challenge the audience and make them think.
● An example is a play on global warming and the audience is left thinking
about what they think of global warming.
● Brecht challenges the audience by the contents of the script.
● Brecht is also german.
Grotowski:
● He is polish.
● This is all about the body and physicality.
● Physical Theatre, no sets, no costumes, no lighting,
● JUST OUR BODIES.

● Translating literature and the script through movement and the
expression of the body.
Stanislavski:

● Real characters and realism sets.
● He is Russian.
● It is all about how you feel, most plays are based on first hand
experience and research.
