Define leadership; and outline the six key elements of leadership in your

Psychology is so important.
Leadership is an influence; it occurs among people, those people intentionally desire
significant changes and the changes reflect purposes shared by leaders and followers.
To state it simply; leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards
achieving a common goal.
Leadership involves:
Establishing a clear vision,
Sharing that vision with others so that they will follow willingly,
Providing the information, knowledge and methods to realise that vision, and
Coordinating and balancing the conflicting interests of all members and stakeholders.
A leader steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively in difficult
situations.
Key elements:
(1) Leadership always involves followers - meaning one cannot lead, unless one has
followers, for example Nelson Mandela was a great leader with many followers.
(2) Leadership involves influence, and
(3) It occurs among people,
(4) Those people intentionally desire significant changes, for example the people of
South Africa that wanted and end to Apartheid.
(5) The changes reflect purposes shared by leaders and followers, and
(6) the leader leads with integrity and takes personal responsibility for the success and/or
failure of his/her team.
