What must you do if you notice code violations in a homeowners house? -
ANSWER-Notify them and recommend ways to address them
What must be done when performing an annual tune-up on a heating
system? - ANSWER-A combustion efficiency test and a copy must be posted
on site
Whenever a furnace, direct fired hot water heater, or boiler is installed the
total installation must be brought into compliance with what requirements
BEFORE appliance can be fired? - ANSWER-NFPA 31
When an emergency arises that does not allow adequate time to get a
chimney lined/and or repaired before installing the new heating appliance
the licensee may defer the required repairs for how long? - ANSWER-90 days
,What must be performed before a new installation? - ANSWER-A heat loss
system design and load calculation. A copy must be retained to be presented
upon request of board inspector
What may be installed in the supply line but not a return line? - ANSWER-A
check valve
If the low water cut off is not installed directly in the boiler where may it be
installed? - ANSWER-Main supply line (vertical riser) as close to boiler as
possible, or in a water column of continuous piping attached directly to the
boiler
A listed lever or wheel thermally operated oil shut off valve must be installed
where? - ANSWER-At the burner and the oil supply tank
When outside tanks are used a thermally operated shut off valve must be
installed where? - ANSWER-The supply line enters the inside of the building
and where the oil line enters the room where the appliance is located
