Define the term, "Right-of-Way Pest Control applicator." - ANSWER-An
individual who is licensed to use or supervise the use of restricted use
pesticides, or other pesticides requiring licensure, in the maintenance of
right-of-way areas associated with public roads, electric power lines,
pipelines, railroads, and other similar areas; but not including the use or
supervision of restricted use fumigant pesticides.
Explain the standards for certification of Right-of-Way Pest Control
applicators. - ANSWER-Must demonstrate practical knowledge of:Pests that
occur in right-of-way areas accompanying roads, electric lines, and
substations, pipelines, railroads, and similar situations and measures for
control.Types of herbicides used on right-of-way areas.Chemical control
measures that pertain to the prevention and control of right-of-way
pests.Equipment or methodologies required to safely and effectively
implement such measures.Pesticide runoff and drift prevention.Recognizing
, target organisms.Actions necessary to prevent excessive foliage
destruction.Potential effects on non-target and off-site organisms.
Know the cost of the Right-of-Way Pest Control applicator license. - ANSWER-
Public applicator - $100/4 years.Commercial applicator - $250/4 years.
Understand the exam process for Right-of-Way Pest Control applicators. -
ANSWER-Must complete two examinations (Core and Right-of-Way Pest
Control) before they can apply to FDACS for a license.
Understand the process of recertification to keep your license valid. -
ANSWER-Must recertify every four years. To recertify, applicators may take
the examinations again or attend training and obtain 8 continuing units
(CEUs) approved for the Right-of-Way Pest Control category and 4 CEUs
approved for the Core category.
