11 orders of a sentry and think they are just something that we say to get our J-bar and a sign-off and are
not aware that they are used throughout the military and are very important to know and I think it is
important that all cadets know the purpose of them. The 11 general orders are orders that are given to
what is called a "sentry", which is someone who is assigned to stand guard at a post and is given these
orders to guard the post and keep it safe. Examples of when these orders will be used include: a Sentry
that is assigned to a checkpoint at a military base, a recruit in boot camp or recruit training that is
assigned to fire watch in the squad bay who will report to one of their recruit division commanders or
drill instructors or a sailor or marine that is assigned to duty as the duty officer.
