RBT Exam Things You Need to Know
Permanent Product Measurement - Correct Answer✔️✔️-refers to collecting data on the
real, concrete outcomes of a behavior. Permanent products can come in many forms -
such as completed homework assignments, smoked cigarettes discarded in an ash tray,
or clumps of hair found on the floor.
Cumulative Records - Correct Answer✔️✔️-display a "running total" of behaviors that
have occurred over a certain time period. A special thing to note about cumulative
records is that they never decrease (slope downward) because they each point on the
graph is always one more (+1) than the previous.
7 Dimensions of ABA - Correct Answer✔️✔️-1) Applied: Applied interventions deal with 0
problems of demonstrated social importance.
2) Behavioral: Applied interventions deal with measurable behavior (or reports if they
can be validated).
3) Analytic: Applied interventions require an objective demonstration that the
procedures caused the effect.
4) Technological: Applied interventions are described well enough that they can be
implemented by anyone with training and resources.

5) Conceptual Systems: Applied interventions arise from a specific and identifiable
theoretical base rather than being a set of packages or tricks.
6) Effective: Applied interventions produce strong, socially important effects.
7) Generality: Applied interventions are designed from the outset to operate in new
environments and continue after the formal treatments have ended.
Continuous Measurement Systems - Correct Answer✔️✔️-1) Frequency - counting each
individual event
2) Inter-Response Time - counting the time from the offset (end) of one response, to the
onset (start) of the next response.
3) Duration - the number of seconds from the onset (start) of the response to the offset
(end) of the response.
Discontinuous Measurement Systems - Correct Answer✔️✔️-1) Whole-Interval Data
Recording - recording the behavior ONLY if the behavior occurs for the entire interval
(from the beginning until the end of the interval, without stopping!)
2) Partial-Interval Data Recording - recording the behavior if it happens at any point in
the entire interval.
3) Momentary Time Sampling- recording the behavior if it happens ONLY at a specific
moment at time, between the intervals. For example, if you were observing every 5
minutes, you'd set a timer for 5 minutes and look up upon the timer's alarm and identify
(yes or no) if the behavior is occurring in that instant and that instant only.

3 Types of Consequences - Correct Answer✔️✔️-1) Reinforcement: a stimulus that
follows a behavior and causes that behavior to increase in probability over time
2) Punishment: a stimulus that follows a behavior and causes that behavior to decrease
in probability over time
3) Extinction: witholding all reinforcement. A behavior that was previously being
reinforced by a given stimulus no longer contacts that stimulus. Extinction is usually
followed by an extinction burst - a "spike" along some dimension of a behavior, followed
by a dramatic decrease in that behavior similar to the effect of punishment.
Types of Conditioning - Correct Answer✔️✔️-1) Forward Conditioning: learning is fastest
in forward conditioning. During forward conditioning, the onset of the CS precedes the
onset of the US.
2) Simultaneous Conditioning: during simultaneous conditioning, the CS and US are
presented and terminated at the same time
3) Backwards Conditioning: backward conditioning occurs when a CS immediately
follows a US, and usually has the opposite effect as forward conditioning: that is to say,
the organism learns that the CS signals the end of the US.
4) Extinction: the CS is repeatedly presented but the US does not follow. This, of
course, must be done after the CS is already conditioned
Conflict of Relationship - Correct Answer✔️✔️-A situation in which personal and/or
financial considerations have the potential to influence or compromise professional
