, What are the oils used to service the MH60? - ANSWER Engine Oil (7.3
Qts): MIL PRF 23699
APU Oil (2.0 Qts): MIL PRF 23699
Main Trans (7.5 Gals): DOD PRF 85734
Intermediate Gearbox (2.75 pints): DOD PRF 85734
Tail Gearbox (2.75 Pints): DOD PRF 85734
HYD Revisors (1 Qt): MIL PRF 83282
Utility HYD (.92 Qts): MIL PRF 83282
Rescue hoist (1.16 Qts): MIL PRF 23699
Starter (200 cc): MIL PRF 23699
What engines does the MH60S have? - ANSWER 2. T700-GE-401C
Front drive turbo shaft engines.
What are the 5 sections of the engines? - ANSWER Inlet, Compressor,
combustion section, turbine section, exhaust
How does the engine work? - ANSWER Air passes through the inlet
section which is sent through swirl vanes which imparts rotation of the
airflow. The air then passes through the Inlet particle separator, which
clean the air and provides smooth airflow to the compressor. Only 30%
of the air makes it into the compressor. The compressor increases the
density the air by squeezing it making it more favorable for combustion.
With help from 12 injectors and 2 ignitors, the air is mixed with fuel to
create a contained explosion which moves the turbine, spinning the high
speed shafts creating the power for flight. The useless by product of
heat is sent through the exhaust after this process.
How many drive shafts are there? - ANSWER 6
What connects the drive shafts? - ANSWER viscous dampeners and
thomas couplings
What are the 2 functions of the transmission system? - ANSWER 1)
Take combined power from the no1 and no2 engines, reduce the rpm,
and transfer it to the rotors
2)Provide electrical and hydraulic power
