, 1. Section 1:

2.1 Activity 1:

This activity had me thinking about stating my own project. The project I would be
proud of starting has to be connected to education in my community. Because of my
first resource I list as important, passion. Having a passion for a project will help you
succeed by finding ways to ensure the projects’ launch and success. When you have
a burning passion for a topic or project you will go the extra mile to get what you need
to reach your goal.

The project will be purely focussed on education, more specifically getting students
and learners in high school aligned with their goals. Helping them with subject choice
and career guidance. This will hopefully help learners who are finishing Grade 12 to
be certain about the path ahead. To avoid changing study disciplines and wasting
money by not being sure of what they want to be doing for the rest of their working life.

Keeping this in mind, we will need questionnaires and personalised assessments, for
example the “Neethling brain instrument assessment” an assessment tailored for
students. Testing their thinking preferences, learning and testing styles. This is the
second and third resources needed for success. In order to get quality assessments
for testing there will be a financial importance and thirdly, the financial resources will
ensure that we get the appropriate information and needed assessments.

The last two resources will have to be time and people. Without willing volunteers and
time to help the students and learners the project will in all probability fail before it can
launch. People need to be involved because they are the community and the
community needs to be involved to help the next generation who will soon be the
community taking over.

“If you have a 5-year plan; plant rice. If you have a 10-year plan; plant a tree. If you
have a 100-year plan; education children.”

, 1.2 Activity 2:

Why I volunteer

I would have liked to have started my project mentioned in Activity 1. However, I do
not have the resources to succeed or get the project of the ground.

Limitations – Time, people and financial assistance.

Being a volunteer:

A volunteer is a person who freely offers their time and work to an organisation without
any form of compensation. There are no financial gains for the volunteers’ work.
