SCIENCE (PHYSICS) QUESTIONS AND
ANSWERS WITH SOLUTIONS 2024
Newton's 1st Law - ANSWER states that an object at rest will remain at rest unless an unbalanced force
acts upon it.

Newton's 2nd Law - ANSWER states that the net force on an object is equal to the mass of the object
multiplied by its acceleration.

Newton's 3rd Law - ANSWER states that if one object exerts a force on a second object, the second
object exerts a force of equal strength in the opposite direction on the first object.

Balanced Forces - ANSWER In a game of tug of war, the rope is pulled with equal force from both sides.
The rope does not move when the forces are balanced. When the force applied from one side is more
than that from the other, the rope is pulled toward the higher force.

Unbalanced Forces - ANSWER When two forces acting on an object are not equal in size, we say that
they are unbalanced forces. If the forces on an object are unbalanced this is what happens: an object
that is not moving starts to move. an object that is moving changes speed or direction.

Inertia - ANSWER In outer space, there is no atmosphere or friction. Satellites travel around the earth
without stopping. This is because of inertia. Objects on Earth come to a stop because they are affected
by friction or gravity.

Net Force - ANSWER A box has four forces acting on it. Forces acing on it from the top and bottom are
equal. So, the box does not move vertically. The force acting on it from the left is more that from the
right. The box will move as if it has a single force of 4 N acting on it from the left.

Mass - ANSWER is a measure of the amount of matter in an object. The mass of an object is measured in
kilograms.

Weight - ANSWER Earth's gravity pulls everything toward its center. We call this pull weight.
