In the event that the employee's physician determines the employee cannot return to the job held at the time of injury, modified work, rather than supplemental job displacement benefits, should be provided. The modified work must meet the employees work restrictions, last at least 12 months, pay at least 85% of the wages and benefits the employee was paid at the time of the injury and be within a reasonable commuting distance of where the employee lived at the time of injury Explain what alternative work assignment means in relation to an employee returning from a Worker's Compensation injury ~ A new job at the business if the employees doctor says the employee will not be able to return to the same job he held at the time of injury, alternative work is encouraged instead of supplemental job displacement benefits. The alternative work must meet the employees work restrictions, last at least 12 months, pay at least 85% of the wages and benefits the employee was paid at the time of the injury and be within a reasonable commuting distance of where the employee lived at the time of injury
