1.1. Mechanical Testing Lab
The results from the mechanical testing lab are displayed in table 1 of the summary table. This
information was gathered on November 4, 2022, for group 2efgh using test machine WP300-02.
The readings are substantially consistent with the EduPack ranges for metals [1] that are believed to
be identical to those used to create the Gunt specimens [2]. The copper and brass results, which have
experimentally higher values for yield strength and tensile strength, are the only exceptions. There
were numerous instances of human error, timing issues, and reading uncertainty throughout the
experiment. This could be the cause of certain findings being greater than the true ranges from
EduPack [1]. However, the readings are also consistent with the cohort’s average readings, which also
had similar values for copper and brass. Given this information, the copper and brass may not have
been pure metals, they may have contained impurities which meant that the values differed from the
true EduPack ranges [1].
Figure 1 – Demonstrates the metals upon the completion of testing.
1.2. Electrical Testing Lab
The summary tables below display the electrical testing lab's findings. The experiments were
conducted on December 1, 2022.
1.2.1. Experiment 1 – Resistivity
The resistivity of two wires constructed of two different metals, copper and nichrome, is calculated in
this experiment.
