Section A: Initial contact(s) with a coach - one typed page This section describes your initial contact(s) with a coach, where you form a working relationship and a conversational context with the coach, in order to collaborate with him/her in removing obstacles to coaching the team. If possible, you must also spend some time observing the coach in action (i.e. coaching the team). Please be careful to consider ethical guidelines in reporting on your project. This section includes the following: ▪ background information about the coach ▪ a description of the contacts - where, when, and so on ▪ your impression of the coach’s reaction to the meeting ▪ an “intake summary” ▪ identified areas for intervention and justification for this focus Section B: Literature research – maximum of two typed pages This section is a description of the second stage of your project, where you consult the recommended literature on performance enhancement, in order to describe any ideas/techniques/interventions that could be of benefit to your coach. The main outcome of this section should be a description of the ideas/techniques/interventions that you think may be used to enhance the coaching style. You should also motivate why they could be of benefit to the coach, using appropriate literature. Section C: Intervention – maximum of two typed pages This section describes the interaction with the coach during which you give him/her advice on what you have discovered in Section A and Section B. In other words, during this intervention session, you discuss what psychological obstacles the coach appears to be experiencing and describe some of the ideas and techniques that you think may be of benefit to him/her based on your literature research. However, please note that because you are not a qualified psychologist, you are not in the position to formally implement any of the ideas/techniques/intervention with your coach. This section includes the following: ▪ description of how the intervention was introduced ▪ description of the reaction of the coach to the intervention (e.g. how receptive was the coach to your suggestions) ▪ few general insights that you gained during this session about interacting with an coach Section D: Feedback – maximum of one typed page In this section you must describe feedback that you receive from your coach, four weeks after the intervention session described above. This section includes the following: ▪ description of the feedback ▪ discussion of your own assessment of the success (or lack of success) that your intervention in Section C had on the coach’s performance. Section E: Overall reflection – maximum of one typed page This section gives an overall personal reflection of the whole process.
