, 1. 0 Introduction
The proposed horizontal alignment of a planned new road (R576-2) links location A (Mafu
Island Resort near Majakaneng) to location S (area near Recreational Site, The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints). Majakaneng is a rural township with a population of about 25 000,
within the Magaliesburg Biosphere about 14 km along N4 from Brits towards Rustenburg. 1
The purpose of this project is to perform a geological investigation for this proposed road. The
horizontal alignment of the road is shown below;
