- Objective: Research artists who explore themes related to the body and identity.

- Details: Select four artists (two South African and two international) from a provided
list. Study their artworks dealing with the body. Analyse techniques, materials, subject
matter, and cultural/social/political contexts.



Task 11: Brainstorming and Mind-Maps

- Objective: Use word association and visual mapping to explore themes of identity,
religion, sport, body, myself, and culture.

- Details: Create two mind maps for each central idea (one using words, another using
found pictures/symbols). Use these to develop ideas for artwork compositions that
express aspects of "you".



Task 12: Investigating and Documenting the Body

- Objective: Conduct personal examination and documentation of physical and
psychological aspects related to identity.

- Details: Use a mirror to study body movements and physical features. Document
personal characteristics, habits, psychological states, aspirations, etc. Collect relevant
data and imagery in a workbook.



Task 13: Create Self-Portrait Painting

- Objective: Produce artwork that reflects personal identity through self-portraiture.

- Details: Create perceptual self-portrait paintings based on photographs taken in Task
12. Focus on capturing facial expressions, physical features, and emotional states.
Optionally, create detailed studies of body textures or imperfections.



Task 14: Documenting Body Painting

- Objective: Experiment with body painting techniques to explore themes of identity and
transformation.
