Explain. - - At Carle Foundation hospital I served as the public relations intern where I told the stories of community members and tied in a call to action relating to a health behavior and a solution available at the hospital. I was tasked at one point with telling the story of a women who received grant from the hospital to help with her recovery and surgeries. I was told to speak with the women's sons to gather the quotes for the story. I found it utterly difficult to not only find the mans contact information but to schedule a time within his schedule to interview him on his mothers story. In other situations where I wrote press releases everyone was nothing but willing to tell their story and help me out along the way, this was the first time I had been confronted with a difficult source. The man so not interested in speaking with me or speaking on the matter regarding his mother and the assistance the hospital provided, he would speak to be with foul language and passive aggressive remarks. I had to find a way to compel this individual into wanting to tell his story, I had to enforce a conversational respect. I found that he was an avid illini fan and lovie smith fan in particular after her learned that I was a uiuc student the individual was willing to speak with me and allow me to conduct the interview in a professional fashion so I could appropriately complete my story with the carle voice. I had to find a way to initially build repour and then continue with my objective.- Name three people you'd take to dinner with you and why? - o My grandmother, my grandfather and my uncle. They all died when I was young and never got the opportunity to learn who they were. - Rank these in order of importance: Integrity, Money and Winning - o Integrity: it is the foundation of our character and its who we are when we are stripped of titles and money value o Wining: comes with recognition o Money: money will always be constant that can be attainable that cant be said with winning and integrity - Tell me how you handle being told no? - o I think it depends on the situation and who is saying no, such as a supervisor there then needs to be a respect given to their decision. At that point I need to understand their decision so that I can improve for the future. o If it were a colleague or client, I would also be respectful but would try to learn more about their reasoning for saying no so that I can address any concerns or mis understandings. - What activities were you involved with in high school? - o I played varsity tennis and played soccer. National honors society, environmental club. - What are three things you could work on? - o Being too critical of my own work: always wanted to do better § My greatest weakness is that I become too involved in my work. Sometimes I become so passionate about my job that I find it difficult to detach myself from projects. I'm working to improve this however, by taking the time to appreciate when I've really achieved something. o Internal frustration with underperforming staff or colleagues o My weakness is that I don't like confrontation. If have to deal with a complaint or an angry customer, I tend to defuse the situation by reassuring them that I will help fix their problem. I plan to improve on this by building my confidence when speaking with customers. - What do you know about the Onsite division? - o It is designed to manage and care for medical instrumentations and equipment so that healthcare professionals can focus on the true essence of their job and that patient care.
