To make sure that the interview is going to be organised in professional manner, I
had to take the following steps:
First thing which I had to do was to choice the candidate who I am going to interview.
Once I choose the person I had to investigate him using his CV and other document
in which he talk about himself. I needed to know that information before the interview
not only, because I had to evaluate the person is it worth to invite him for an
interview, but also to analyse and understand his personality as much as possible so
to create the best questions for him. Creating questions specifically for my
interviewee, I was able to understand him even better.
Once I analysed the person and through the information, he provide me, I decide it
will worth to invite him for an interview. Usually the right way for letting the candidate
know, that the manager would like to meet him for an interview is through eMail, but I
knew the person personally, so I met him and let him know that I (as a manager or
employer) would like to meet him for an interview. I also asked him when is going to
be the best time for him to meet. I also let him know, that the questions which I am
going to ask him are going to be mainly personal so there is no need to prepare him
with any knowledge. I wait for him to confirm, that he will be there and that was it my
preparation for the interview. (Usually the candidate confirm that he will attend the
interview is happening through email to the company, manager, interviewer or
employer, depends who send the email with data and time for the interview to the
candidate.)
To drew up sequence of questions and to sort them in right order I had to investigate
the candidate first, so to make sure I have the right questions, in right order which
are going to help me to understand the candidate as much as possible.
I investigated my candidate and found out that he never worked on even similar
position before, so the first question that I asked him was, “Why do you want this
job?” I needed to know the answer of this question, because it looked strange for
me, that he never worked on similar position before and now he decide to apply.
Anyway he gave me good answer, which was fairly good for me.
The second question, which I asked him was, ‘Why should we hire you?’. I think
every interviewer should ask this question, because it shows, how well the candidate
knows the company and the position, which he is applying for. It also shows how well
the candidate can sell himself and would he convince me to hire him. Through this
question can be find out other makings of the candidate, such as how confident he
is.
Next question was “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”. I asked this question,
because I thought it is going to help me understand, how ambitious the candidate is,
also is the candidate positive, because to be the ambitious and positive are very,
