allows practice after the trainee begins to assist with understanding the basic concepts
of the procedure or task.
CTO as a Mentor - ANSWER-CTOs are sometimes caught between the supervisor and
the trainee, with the trainee seemingly more confident in the CTOs knowledge and
abilities than in those of the supervisor.

policies and procedures are observed by both current and former trainees.

become skilled in observing behavior and performance and rating it according to SEGs
CTOS have extensive responsibilities to their agency and the overall training program
that include - ANSWER-Consistency, being open to criticism, maintains continuous job
related education, maintains proficient in the technology, stays current on policy and
procedures, submits complete information, uses good communication skills,
acknowledges different behaviors, protects the agency from liability by following policy
and procedure, models a professional attitude and leadership skills, complies with
established standards.
CTO additional responsibilities include - ANSWER-Being honest, fair and objective
about performance and behavior, remaining free of bias, being courteous, patient and
empathetic, respect the trainees position, possesses organizational and prioritization
skills, ensuring all information required is taught.
Effective communication with your trainee includes - ANSWER-being able to extract
information from the trainee quickly, being able to convey information accurately and
clearly in a language and manner the trainee can easily understand. The CTO must be
alert to trainee feedback, both verbal and non-verbal.
