The purpose behind the experiment was to find out if levels of processing (shallow,
semantic and semantic with context) really do affect how individuals are able to recall
things as suggested by Craik and Lockhart (1972). The aim of the study was solely based
on remembering words in different conditions and also looked at whether the
expectation of a memory test could alter the results. The study followed a between
subject's design on fifty-four psychology undergraduate students with ages ranging from
eighteen to forty- two from the University of Hertfordshire. The results did follow the
hypothesis and to conclude supported the prediction of the LOP theory
