Task 2: First Portfolio Activity Reflection (7)
When I first created my First Portfolio Activity, I was still in the early
stages of understanding my own cultural background and its impact on
my language skills and identity. I come from a multicultural
background, with one parent from a Western country and the other
from an Eastern culture. Throughout the AFL1501 module, I have
gained a deeper understanding of how language and culture are
intertwined and how they shape our worldview and communication
styles. Now that I have completed the course, I see myself as more
confident in navigating and embracing my bicultural identity. I have
learned to appreciate the unique blend of languages, traditions, and
customs that make up my cultural background, and I feel more
empowered to express myself authentically in both English and my
heritage language. This course has also taught me the importance of
actively engaging with diverse perspectives and valuing linguistic and
cultural diversity in both personal and professional settings. Overall, I
have evolved into a more culturally competent and self-aware
individual, with a greater appreciation for the richness that comes with
embracing multiple languages and cultures.
2. Second Portfolio Activity [37]
"Who is reflected in the mirror?" from Unit 2. Why? (5)
You are not asked to describe your appearance but who you are inside. Your thoughts,
emotions, and feelings. Then tell us why you feel and think like you do – “what makes you tick”.
5 to 7 good, comprehensive sentences
When I look into the mirror, I see a reflection of my true self - someone
who is kind, empathetic, and passionate. I see a person who often feels
deeply and cares for others. I also see someone who is driven and
determined, always striving to better themselves and the world around
them. The reason for this reflection is a combination of my upbringing,
personal experiences, and the values that have guided my life. Growing
up, I was taught to be considerate of others and to work hard for what I
believe in. My experiences have also shaped me, leading me to develop
a strong sense of empathy and a desire to make a positive impact in
