, 1. Subjectieve beleving
= We do not see the things as they are, we see them as we are.
= Al wat we waarnemen, waar we de focus op leggen, de betekenis die we aan het waargenomene
koppelen… wordt door een resem factoren bepaald en voornamelijk bepaald door wie we zijn.

Gewaarwording = de opname van stimulatie en het vertalen van deze stimulatie in
elektrochemische neuronale signalen die naar de hersenen gestuurd kunnen worden en daar
omgezet worden in beelden, klanken, geuren, smaken…

Waarneming = het organiseren, interpreteren en begrijpen van de gewaarwording.

Oefening: drie invalshoeken
− De biologische bijdrage: Drukt een blindgeboren kind blijheid uit met een glimlach op basis
van een aangeboren vaardigheid? Worden honger en verzadiging ook bepaald door niet-
biologische factoren?
− De cognitieve bijdrage: Is een emotionele reactie altijd irrationeel? Hoe kun je de eigen
prestatiemotivatie verhogen? Waarom hebben mensen last van faalangst?
− De sociaal-culturele bijdrage: Glimlachen mensen in alle culturen bij de emotie blijheid? Is de
prestatiemotivatie typisch westers?

Emotie = een reactie op een stimulus die bestaat uit een fysiologische opwinding en gepaard gaat
met een evaluatie van de stimulus, een gezichtsuitdrukking en een subjectieve ervaring.

Drie belangrijke functies van emoties (volgens Rolls):
1. Overlevingsgericht
2. Adequate communicatie in een sociale context: rekening houden met de behoeften en
gevoelens van anderen.
3. Cognitie ondersteunend: verhoogde aandacht

Positieve (aangename) emoties = neiging hebben om prikkel opnieuw op te zoeken of gedrag te
herhalen.

Negatieve (onaangename) emoties = neiging hebben om de prikkel te vermijden of gedrag te
onderdrukken.

Emoties bestaan uit:
1. Een evaluatie van de stimulus
2. Een lichamelijke respons
3. Een subjectieve ervaring
