the results from measuring and managing performance inform employee
development.The results from measuring and managing performance will enable the
company as British Airways to have an insight on how good their staff is by giving
them day to day tasks which has be completed to the best of their ability.It is essential
for every businesses to measure and manage employees performance in order to
make the business function at the highest standard possible.British Airways is a top
leading business which has many competitors , as a result they might hire the best
motivated, hardworking staff in order to better or maintain the reputation and
company’s performance.

The obtained results could make the company to recruit new people.The performance
results indicates the type of employee is needed within the business as well as
experience and qualifications the candidate needs to posses.An advantage for British
Airways might be that those new people could bring in fresh ideas and better
motivation which will benefit the company.However these is long , time consuming
and expensive.

In addition, the results from measuring and managing employees performance will
show what the business is lacking based on skills and knowledge.In fact these may
result in retraining their staff or giving more financial rewards to they're existing
employees in order to boost up their motivation.In fact British Airways will save up
more money and time.

Motivation is an important key in business environments as it gets employees to work
to the best of their ability , as a result the business has to find out what is the best
ability during their work by measuring their performance level.Different types of
businesses has different ways of measuring employee performance.For example in
production its how many product an individual is making in an amount of time, in retail
its how many customers an individual is serving or how many products is selling in an
amount of time.however in some industries it is harder to measure productivity. In fact
qualitative data would be more important than quantitative data.In these case it is
also important to have methods of reviewing performance and to have targets set and
appraisals.
One method of measuring performance is through goal theory where the employer
and employee work higher over the set objectives and goals.In fact these helps the
organisation to meet its overall goal.Also it is important that the employee desires by
themselves to achieve the goal as soon as possible.In fact the results from these
measurement will enable British Airways to decide which employee from their
company is improving based on motivation, cooperation and overall
performance.These results will influence the employer to fire or to keep the
employee.However , there are many laws and legislations that stops an employer to
fire an employee without reason.In these case with goal theory results the company
has enough evidence to dismiss that person.
Another method is through SMART targets which will give employees a number of
tasks that has be to achieve within a stricter time.The word SMART derives from S-
specific, M-measurable , A - achievable, R - realistic, T - time constrained.The results
from these method will give employers an insight who is good and who is not best
suited for the position.
Also , businesses uses bench marking which means that an organisation tries to meet
or better the performance level of another organisation. Sometimes a benchmark
standard is set by the best organisation in industry, or by the government.The results
