Your task In this assignment you must compile a report in which you will 1) classify the tourism resources of your chosen area and 2) identify the impacts of tourism on the chosen area. It is crucial that you work through Lessons 4─6 before you attempt to complete the assignment. What is the aim? You have the opportunity to evaluate the resources available for tourism in your chosen area and to identify the impacts of tourism on the area. Part 1: Report on classification of the tourism resources in your chosen area Instructions For the first part of the assignment report, you need to consult Learning unit 4, Section 4.4.1 Activity: Identifying the core tourism product of your chosen area. 1. Create two separate tables in which you will classify the tourism resources found in your chosen area. Do not use the combined table as per the activity in Section 4.4.1. 2. In the first table, you will use Clawson & Knetsch’s classification system to classify the tourism resources found in your chosen area according to the three categories of this classification system. (12) 3. In the second table, you will use Swarbrooke’s classification system to classify the tourism resources found in your chosen area according to the four categories of his classification system. (16) 4. After completing the two tables, you need to answer the following questions: 4.1 When you look at the two most dominant categories of resources in each table, do the type of resources correspond? Justify your answer. (4) 4.2 What do you consider the core tourism product of the chosen area is after observing the classification of the tourism resources in the two tables? (3) Part 2: Mind map on the impacts of tourism in your chosen area Instructions The mind map must address the following and follow directly on the report: 1) Use learning unit 6 to identify the three types of tourism impacts on a destination area. 2) Next, apply the three types of impacts to your chosen tourism area by visually presenting them on a mind map. 3) Both positive and negative impacts of each of the three types of impacts must be shown. 4) Important: you are analysing the impacts of tourism on the destination area and not the impacts of the area on tourism. 5) Use imagery (photos, maps, sketches, graphs, etc) if you wish to make the mind map more interesting. ● The length of the total assignment should not exceed 10 typed pages. ● Supply a list of references from which you obtained material on the last of your report. Use the referencing guidelines supplied to you on the myUnisa under Additional resources to make sure your references are correctly structured. Students suspected of dishonest conduct such as plagiarism and cheating during the assignments will be subjected to disciplinary processes.
