It is our professional responsibility to promote and provide quality care and education to every child who comes to us for care. Developmentally Appropriate Practice, or DAP, is a concept developed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Developmentally Appropriate Practice focuses on children birth to eight years old and is made up of three principle components: age appropriateness, individual appropriateness, and social/cultural appropriateness.
