BIOS 255 WEEK 4 DISCUSSION POST AND REPLY – SCORED AN A+ OPTION A: The lymphatic system removes excess fluid from the body's tissues, distributes white blood cells (WBCs), and helps organ system s work properly. Lymph nodes are an important part of this system. Lymph nodes are important to the lymphatic system because they combat infections, regulate fluid balance, filter lymph, and control cancer. The lymphatic system is intricately linked to the immunological and circulatory systems, all of which contribute to equilibrium and health. OPTION B: The many aspects of the nonspecific immune system work together to provide everyday defense against a variety of diseases. The first line of defense is physical and chemical barriers, whereas phagocytic cells, natural killer cells, the complement system, inflammation, and interferons help pathogen detection and eradication. Although very efficient against specific disease types, their efficacy varies. Nonetheless, when combined with the adaptive immune response, the innate immune system's cumulative efforts create a powerful defense mechanism critical for general health and well-being.
