Paragraph 2

2 types of conflict areas:
- International conflict
- Internal conflict

Many civil wars develop into a regional conflict, why is that?
This is because rebels are chased into another country by the army or because there are many
refugees, which means that other areas are involved.

In each state lives one nation.
Every nation has its own ethnicity.

Terrorism is violence to achieve a political goal

Dutch terms in English:
• Identity (identiteit) How you feel
• Ethnicity (Etniciteit) culture
• Nation (Volk)
• State (staat)

Terms and meanings:
• Regionalism when you feel part of a region and hold strongly to its own history and culture
• Nationalism  when you feel part of a country and fight for independence
• Territory  living area of a nation
• State  when there are borders around a territory
• sovereignty/self-determination  when a state has its own power
• separatism  wanting separation from a state
• autonomous region  when a region get self-determination over a few things, like education,
taxes and police

, Paragraph 3

Conditions for peace:

1) Less corruption, the less the better for a
country
2) Acceptance of the rights of others
3) High education level
4) Good business environment
5) Press freedom
6) Fair distribution of resources
7) Good relations with neighbouring countries
8) Efficient government

Causes of conflicts:
• Economic reasons
Economic conflicts happen when people fight over money, jobs, or resources like land and oil.
This occurs when there's inequality in wealth or when resources become scarce.
• Social/ Cultural reasons
Social and cultural conflicts occur when people clash over their beliefs, traditions, or ways of life.
• Political reasons
When people argue over who should have power or how a country should be run. But also when
different groups wanting control over the same territory or wanting independence.
• Ecological reasons
Ecological conflicts happen when people fight over things in nature, like water, land, or food.
So, it's basically about disagreements over nature and its resources.
