Example- Impetigo, acne. Cyst - ANSWER Elevated, Circumscribed, encapsulated lesion, in dermis or subcutaneous layer, filled with liquid or semisolid material. Example- Sebaceous cyst, cystic acne. Telangietasia - ANSWER Fine, irregular, red lines produced by capillary dilation. Example- Telangiectasia in rosacea. Scale - ANSWER Heaped up keratinized cells, flaky skin irregular, thick or thin dry or oily variation in size. Example- Flaking of skin with seborrheic dermatitis or after a dog reaction dry skin. Lichenification - ANSWER Rough thickened epidermis secondary to persistent rubbing, itching, or skin irritation, often involves flex surface of extremity. Example- Chronic dermatitis. Keloid - ANSWER Irregularly shaped elevated progressively enlarging scar, grows beyond the boundaries of the wound caused by excessive collagen formation during healing. Example- keloid formation after surgery. Scar - ANSWER Thin to thick fibrous tissue that replaces normal skin after injury or laceration to the dermis. Example- Healed wound or surgical incision. Excoriation - ANSWER Loss of the epidermis linear hollowed out crusted area. Example- Abrasion or scratch scabies. Fissure - ANSWER Linear crack or break from the epidermis to the dermis may be moist or dry. Example- Athlete's foot, cracks at the corner of the mouth. Erosion - ANSWER Loss of part of the epidermis, depressed, moist, glistening, follows rupture of a vesicle or bulla. Example- Varicella, variola after rupture. Ulcer - ANSWER Loss of epidermis and dermis concave varies in size. Example- Decubiti, Stasis ulcers. Crust - ANSWER Dried serum, blood, or purulent exudates, slightly elevated, size varies, brown red black tan or straw colored. Example- scab on abrasion, eczema. Atrophy - ANSWER Thinning of skin surface and loss of skin markings, skin translucent and paper like. Example- striae, aged skin.
