social studies 10-1 final exam review questions and answers 100% pass Globalization - Answer- The process by which different parts of the world interact economically, politically, and culturally. Social Globalization - Answer- The sharing of ideas and information between and through different countries. Good examples: internationally popular films, books and TV series. The Harry Potter/ Twilight films and books have been successful all over the world, making the characters featured globally recognizable. Economic Globalization - Answer- Economic Globalization refers to the interconnectedness of economies through trade and the exchange of resources. Effectively, therefore, no national economy really operates in isolation, which means national economies influence each other. Political Globalization - Answer- Political globalization refers to the amount of political co-operation that exists between different countries. This ties in with the belief that "umbrella" global organizations are better placed than individual states to prevent conflict. The League of Nations established after WW1 was certainly one of the pioneers in this. Since then, global organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations (UN), and more regional organizations such as the EU have helped to increase the degree of political globalization. Cultural identity - Answer- the identity or feeling of belonging to a group. It is part of a person's self-conception and self-perception and is related to nationality, ethnicity, religion, social class, generation, locality or any kind of social group that has its own distinct culture. Individual Identity - Answer- Indiviudal identity is about defining which particular individual, out of the billions of people roaming the globe today and in the past, one is concerned with Collective identity - Answer- The shared identity of a group of people, especially because of a common language and culture Transnational Corporation - Answer- A company that conducts research, operates factories, and sells products in many countries, not just where its headquarters or shareholders are located.
