P6 - Explain the operational issues in relation to use of business information.
Good morning, welcome to Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Today I am going to talk about our
operational issues that we face on a day-to-day basis. The whole point of this presentation is
to inform our customers of what problems our company experiences, how it can impact the
customers and how we overcome the issue. At Enterprise we are a company that value our
customers first, so if our company makes a mistake that causes problems it can significantly
impact the customers.
The main problem that Enterprise rent-a-car has to deal with is if the staffs don’t turn up to
work. Within our company, depending upon how big the branch is it would consider having a
few mechanics, salesperson, branch manager and other employees that work in the office.
For example, if the mechanics don’t show up to work, and a customer brings back a car that
has problems with it, the branch manager or the salesperson would not know how to fix it as
they are not suited to work just like a mechanic as that is not their role as a job. It’s the same
concept with the salesperson, if they don’t turn up, then who will have the responsibility to
persuade the customers into renting or hiring out a car. This type of responsibility will not be
suitable for a mechanic or even the branch managers as they have different job roles. This
issue of the staffs not coming to work can impact the customers as they won’t be fully
satisfied with the service that we have gave them if employees don’t show up.
Another problem that we come across is that when the cars don’t work. If there is any sort of
fault in the cars it is responsible for the mechanics to overcome the problem. There would be
times when the customers will come back unhappy when the cars has some problems. If
that is something as small as the window being jammed to a big problem like brakes not
working properly. This means that the company has the full responsibility for the customers
safety. This issue can be simply dealt with by making sure that all cars are ready and good
to put out for rent or hire, it should also be signed off by the branch manager showing that
there is proof that the car if fully functional, so this means if there is any problem it is the
manager’s responsibility.
Another problem that we could experience as a company which can be a major problem for
Enterprise, is that if the phone or service that is usually made to contact customers doesn’t
work. If this problem does come across it will mean that customers cannot call their closest
branch for any concerns, that is also suitable for them. It can also lose out customers if they
wanted to book an appointment it wouldn’t allow them to as the phone lines don’t work. This
can be a problem that we have to respond very quickly to as it become very serious.
M2 - Analyse the legal, ethical and operational issues in relation to the use of business
information, using appropriate examples.
Continuing on for my speech, our company does undergo all legal, ethical and operational
issues, and us representing Enterprise rent-a-car we have to study and learn on how to
overcome all the problems we face on a daily routine.
