Through the investigation, I developed and improved skills such as time management, statistical
calculations and critical thinking.
Time management - I was able to manage my
Skill 1 described
time and plan around my schedule.
Communication – I was able to use my
Skill 2 described communication skills to help me throughout
the unit
Research skills - I was able to use my research
skills both online and in person to help me
Skill 3 described
gather information and learn new skills
throughout the unit.
Mathematical skills – I was able to use my
Skill 4 described numerical skills to help me throughout the unit
and I also learnt how to do statistical tests.
Judgmental skills - I was able to accurately
Skill 5 described
collect results during the experiment.
Literacy skills - I was able to correctly structure
Skill 6 described
my report in an article form.
Attention to detail - I learnt how to calculate
uncertainty and calculated it for a ruler. This
was important for 6C when conducting the
Skill 7 described
experiment. I learnt about validity and
reliability and what factors can increase or
decrease them.
Experimental skills – I learnt how to predict a
null and alternative hypothesis and carry out a
risk assessment. I learnt about different
Skill 8 described
variables and how to control experiments. This
was important for 6B where I was writing a
project plan.
Skill 9 described Ethical decision making - I learnt that when
conducting an experiment, ethics are very
important as humans are being tested and my
actions have a very strong impact. I learnt how
to create a consent form, which was important
as participants had to be aware of what they
would be doing as well as any risks associated
with the experiment. I learnt about
