Type ‘a’ questions
These questions are worth 3 marks.
‘State’ questions: Asking you for three correct responses to the question – this can be a list.
Example:
a. State three persons of the Trinity. [3]
The Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit.
‘Outline’ questions: Asking you to provide information about three things in response to the question.
Example:
a. Outline three persons of the Trinity. [3]
God the Father the creator of the universe. The Son is Jesus Christ and the Son of the
Father. The Holy Spirit is the giver of gifts.
Type ‘b’ questions
These questions are worth 4 marks.
1 mark for each point (max 2). Another mark for developing the points (max 2).
Develop by using:
○ Quotations
○ Evidence that supports the point made
Good habits:
Find keywords in the question. Use those words in your answer.
Make it clear that your explanation follows on from your point.
Example:
Explain two Christian beliefs about the Trinity. [4]
Christians believe that the Trinity means God exists in three persons. These three persons are God the
Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Chritsians also believe that the Trinity should be reflected in the way they worship. For example, they
pray to God the Father because they believe he cares for them and listens to them.
Type ‘c’ questions
These questions are worth 5 marks.
What to include:
- Asks you to explain in two parts
- Should be answered in the same way as b-type questions
- The 5th mark is for using SOWA.
- Explain why the SOWA supports you point
