4 different types of Feminism -Liberal, Marxist, Islamic and Radical Liberal Feminism -Type of Feminism which say there has been a march of progress, Functionalism agree. Religion can help this process. Marxist Feminism -Type of Feminism which says religion supports Capitalism as it divides men from women. Radical Feminism -Type of Feminism which says religion only benefits men, promoting patriarchy. Islamic Feminism -Type of Feminism which say that Western feminists are misguided and ethnocentric, but, there are forms of oppression within Islam to campaign against. Bruce -Sociologist who say women are excluded from key roles in many religions. Armstrong -Sociologist who say no major religions have been good to women. They have become male affairs and women have been relegated to marginal positions. Daly -Sociologist who says Christianity is an ideological force that spreads a 'patriarchal myth' De Beauvoir -Sociologist who say religion is used to control women and then compensates women for their second class status. E.g. suffering on earth by gaining equality in heaven.
