Sapir-Whorf-Hypothese

Die Sapir-Whorf-Hypothese, welche in den 1950-er Jahren von Benjamin Whorf
und Edward Sapir entwickelt wurde, besagt, dass die Sprache das menschliche
Denken beeinflusst. Die Sapir-Whorf-Hypothese beinhaltet zwei Kernaussagen;
die des Prinzipes der linguistischen Relativität, die zweite des sprachlichen
Determinismus. Relativität bedeutet in diesem Zusammenhang soviel wie
„Abhängigkeit“. Diese besagt, dass Menschen abhängig von ihrer Sprache
Umweltreize einordnen. Diese Einstufung im Gehirn ist also von der Sprache




abhängig. Der sprachliche Determinismus besagt hierbei, dass die Sprache das
menschliche Denken, die Wahrnehmung etc steuert.
