In this assignment I will be identifying the impact of government spending on a selected
Business. For this task I have chosen to use Tesco as my selected business.

What is government spending?
Government spending is influenced by the type of government that is in power and the
type of role it sees for itself. Money expended by a government to pay for defence,
development projects, education, health, infrastructure, law and order maintenance, etc.
Government spending is supported by taxation.

Local Government Have a wide range of powers and duties.
Local councils are responsible for all day to
day services and local matters. They are
funded by the government grants, council
tax and business rates. They are
responsible for-:
 Recycling
 Rubbish collection
 Planning applications
 Housing
 Advice for businesses
 Tourism
 Youth services


European Level Countries in the EU tend to have a higher
rate of government spending UK 47%.
